Adele & Stella's Story

Meet Stella & Adele - A Bonded Pair of Silver Beauties

Stella and Adele are two stunning two-year old silver Weimaraner girls who have come a long way on their journey to freedom and love. Just over a year old when they arrived at GLWR, these girls were surrendered from a Missouri puppy mill where life was nothing but cement floors, wire fences, and isolation. They had never known kindness, soft voices, or gentle hands only fear and survival.

Both were heartworm positive when they came to us, and Adele had already been cycled for breeding. Their first ride to safety was terrifying; they huddled together on the floorboard, unsure of what was happening. But thanks to patient, loving GLWR volunteers, they began to learn that humans could be trusted.

Over time, Stella and Adele discovered what freedom feels like running with the Weim pack, digging in the sand, dragging branches, and even unearthing a buried teacup (Stella was very proud of that find!). Through heartworm treatment and recovery, they showed incredible resilience and bravery.

Today, these girls are healthy, happy, and ready for their forever home. They've learned so much: Basic commands like sit, shake, and nice for gentle treat-taking Leash manners and enjoy meeting new people on walks They love soft beds, toys, treats, chews, and most of all attention

Personality Snapshot:

Stella is an outgoing social butterfly, quick to learn and eager to please. Adele is more reserved but deeply loving once she feels safe. They are strongly bonded and must be adopted together. They've done well with other dogs and love to play and socialize. We feel that placement in a home with another well-trained dog to help continue their learnings and to teach them how to do dog & stuff would be ideal (Adele has already dabbled in "counter terrorism" so clean kitchen counters are a must!). A physicalbarrier-fenced yard is a must for these girls as they have much to learn about the big world outside yet. While theywere kennel trained, crate training in theirfoster home was not entirely successful, but they do well with gated areas when needed to be left or confined for a bit. Adele may need a little extra patience with house training, as occasional accidents could be anxiety related. Soft pillows and lots of sunlight radiating into the house where theycan soak up the sun during afternoon nap is a special request from the girls! They havenot hadany exposure to children, and although both girls are gentleand kind and have never shown any aggressive or negativebehaviors,we feel an adult basedhome with a calmer environment would be a more suitable environment for them as they continue their journey of learning and discovery. Cats are also unknown as they have no historybeing around furry felines.

These girls have endured so much and deserve a home filled with love, patience, and security. If youre ready to open your heart to two sweet souls who will reward you with loyalty and affection, Stella and Adele are waiting. Theya recurrently fostered in a suburb city of Darien nearChicago, IL

Requirements:

Fenced yardPreferably no long hours aloneA patient family committed to continuing their journey of trust and confidenceAdult based home with a calm and secure inside and outside environmentPreferably another established dog in the home that can guide and teach them good behaviors
