Ace's Story

**If interested, please do not send us a message through PetFinder. Instead, please go to our website to fill out an application: www.projectpawsdogrescue.com**

Ace is a 4 year old chihuahua who came to us as an owner surrender. Ace does not have a bite history but was just not doing well in an active home with young children. Ace was very protective of his family and his person.

Ace is a perfect example of the importance in finding the right home. When we first met Ace, he was lunging and acting very protectively of his person, He was very nervous around strangers.

Ace is a very different dog in his foster home. He does not feel the need to protect and has become such a sweet little guy. He now makes regular trips to the hardware store without feeling the need to protect his person. We need to encourage this by not coddling him and letting Ace be the independent little guy he is.

It takes only a short time for him to warm up to strangers and we now protect his space so that he no longer has to. He is not lunging at strangers but we also do not let them approach or try to pet while out on walks. At home, he is now doing great at sharing his space.

Once he knows you, Ace will quietly follow you around, watching and learning your routine, giving stalker vibes 🤣 he means no harm he’s just curious and nosey. Ace is extremely loving with his people and is crate trained and housetrained. Ace is playful and loves to go for walkies as well as enjoy a quiet chill day at home. He’s down for whatever his person is doing.

Ace is getting along really well with his foster dog sibling who is much bigger than him. We also feel that Ace may have a romantic relationship going on with the foster cat but we can’t be sure. Ace is extremely respectful of other animals' space and is a very polite little guy. He was thrown into a home with 4 small dogs the first week in care and couldn’t have navigated the situation better.

Ace is looking for an adult-only home with a routine so he can continue to feel comfortable knowing what’s happening next. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations and ready to find his forever home!
