Ace's Story

Hi, my name is Ace! I'm a PURPLE pawprint, which means I will fit well into a home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:

-Personality: Handsome, Goofy
-Can Live with Kids: Unknown History, Likely okay with STURDY dog-savvy children 8+ up to counselor discretion.
-Can Live with Cats: No thanks! History of HIGH prey drive.
-Can Live with Dogs Yes, all initial introductions done at WHS to ensure everyone gets along.
-Can do Apartment Living: Yes, with a good exercise and mental stimulation plan in place.
-Potty Trained: Yes
-Bite History: No
-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Yes, one private lesson.
-Energy Level: Medium
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Needs a dental cleaning (provided by WHS).
-Additional Information:

Ace is a handsome older pitbull mix who’s searching for a loving home to begin the next chapter of his life. After the loss of his primary human, Ace has found himself navigating a lot of change, and he would love nothing more than a family to call his own again. This sweet senior gentleman lives for the simple pleasures—especially a good booty scratch! Once he warms up, Ace is incredibly affectionate and enjoys spending time with his people, whether that’s relaxing together or heading out for a nice stroll.

Shelter life has been pretty stressful for Ace, and sometimes that frustration shows up as demand barking when he’s feeling overwhelmed. The good news is that with a proper walk and a little TLC, he settles down quickly and shows what a lovely companion he can be. With consistency, patience, and a calm environment, Ace is sure to thrive. Ace is looking for a responsible, stable family who can provide him with the care he deserves in his golden years. That includes regular veterinary care, a healthy diet, appropriate exercise, and mental enrichment to keep him feeling his best. In return, Ace will offer loyal companionship, plenty of tail wags, and endless appreciation for every booty scratch you’re willing to give.

If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
