Abby's Story

Abby was shot in her front elbow prior to rescue. After approaching several orthopedic surgeons who confirmed extensive damage, and surgery was not an option... we went ahead and removed her front leg. Abby has now healed and getting along great! She was even digging in the dirt today (although she did stop immediately and contritely when gently called back to the house). Abby has a great personality that we are just now beginning to see... and she is wonderful with other dogs and lives with several cats in her foster home. While shy at first, it doesn't take long before she is snuggling up in a warm lap and offering kisses. Her fur is soft and velvety... and a person could claim therapeutic gains simply by petting her! We love Abby and know anyone who meets her will also. We do not know how she is with young kids, but we prefer she go to a home with mature or retired folks, or those with older kids who will be gentle with her.
