Abbie's Story

(DOB 07/22/2023) Abbie is looking for a home where she can both do her fun, favorite things and burn off her SMART, playful energy and CHILL OUT with her human(s). She is the perfect combo of "let's have some fun and let's snuggle"!!! With her tail wagging, she takes her roles very seriously, and is ready to get this forever party started!

Abbie is quite the little athlete! She has LOTS of happy, energy and loves all kinds of sports. Some of her favorites are chasing and retrieving balls, leaping high in the air to catch nerf frisbees, and herding two huge balls. She's also exceptional at juggling balloons and playing balloon volleyball (she's gentle and can make a balloon last a long time)! Abbie also loves the water and jumping in to cool off. Give that girl a life vest and head in with her; you will both LOVE IT! Oh, due to her excellent athletic skills, Annie has some hops for sure, so if there's a fenced yard it should be 6ft.

After a fun day, Abbie enjoys sitting on the couch next to her humans. She also sleep with you sometimes, but she's very respectful of personal space. In the mornings, she'll snuggle up for some “puppy love” before starting the day (this sweet girl absolutely loves giving hugs and kisses). When she doesn't sleep on the bed, she's happy to rest on the couch. She isn't very interested in dog beds, so no need to spend any dollars on those.

She's good with kids and other people, though sometimes her enthusiasm turns into happy jumping up, and she is working on containing her excitment when seeing you!!! She is definitely doing it out of joy, and you can't help but smile since she is so happy to see you! Her excitement boils over to walks as well, and she loves heading out and about. She is working on her leash manners and getting better and will need to continued practice and good routine.

Some other silly, fun things about sweet Abbie. A little quirk is her love for small trash cans; she'll sneak into them if they're within reach. She's also a fantastic communicator! When she needs something, she'll stare at you or smack her lips until you figure it out. She's always ready for a car ride. She is happy to sit in the back seat and doesn't need to ride "shotgun." She is a great travel companion for sure.

And one of the best things about her; she's a great guard dog. She barks when there's something important to alert you to, but she doesn't bark endlessly for no reason. That's one of the things her humans love most about her! No worries; noone will be sneaky up on you without Abbie giving you the quick 411.

When it comes to other dogs, she can be a little "jealous" of her special person so setting the proper stage in the begining is important. Abbie may be best suited as an only dog or with a family that is familar with slow and proper introductions and monitored playtime. Abbie has gotten along with dogs. She will chase after them if they run, because, let's face it, most dogs love "the chase!" She'd do best with a dog who's a calm and confident type of pup.

No matter what's happening, she wants to be right by your side. You'd be a winner if you adopted Abbie for sure! If you are ready to love Abbie as much as her foster has, then fill out an application today! You will get the most amazing love in return.

As part of Abbie's $300 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org. If you wish to adopt Abbie, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website: www.pawsforlifenc.org.
