She was rescued from a kill shelter in Georgia and is now settling into her foster home in the Chicago area, where she’s doing very well.

Abigail’s story is one of survival, resilience, and hope. This young shepherd mix was once facing euthanasia after a tragic incident involving a rabies-positive cat. Instead, her life was spared, and she endured four long months of strict quarantine isolation. Thanks to that second chance, Abigail is now free and finally getting to experience what it means to be a dog.

In her foster home, Abigail is learning all about life indoors and is catching on quickly to potty training, crate training, and walking on a leash.

She is a higher-energy girl who absolutely loves to play. After she gets her energy out, she happily crashes and enjoys a good nap. Abigail gets along great with the other dog in her foster home and would likely do well with an active canine companion or trips to the dog park.

She is very curious and interested in the cats in her foster home, so she would likely do best in a cat-free home.

Abigail will thrive in an active household that can provide structure, exercise, enrichment, and continued positive training.
