868 (2025) Harvey's Story

Adoption Fee: $475

When available, all animals are fixed in accordance with Colorado law, up to date on vaccines (may need boosters), and microchipped!

What we know: Harvey was rescued from a Kansas shelter's euthanasia list at the last minute. He has been with his foster mom for about 9 months and has adjusted very well to life with a house-full of dog friends.

In June of this year, Harvey became suddenly paralyzed and incontinent. There was never an official diagnosis, but thought to likely be spine/disc related. He went through months of acupuncture and laser therapy to make an almost full recovery. His left leg was most affected and he still can't lift that leg to potty but does fine lifting his right leg or standing to use the bathroom. He currently doesn't have accidents in the house, but does need to go out more frequently than most adult dogs. He would do best with someone that works from home and doesn't spend long hours away from the house. As of now, he lives a very normal life. He still likes to play with other dogs and goes on daily walks.

From the foster: Harvey was found in a Kansas backyard with no shelter, no water, and starved to a skeletal state. Surrendered to a local shelter, he spent nearly a year being nursed back to health by the shelter manager. When new euthanasia rules put him at immediate risk, I was asked to help save him. Harvey has been with me for the past five months and has made incredible progress.

He currently lives with five other dogs-both male and female-and does best with non-dominant, non-reactive companions. He enjoys having playful dogs around but could also thrive as an only dog. Harvey is kennel-trained, often putting himself to bed at night and napping there during the day.

He's working on leash reactivity and can get overstimulated in busy environments, so quiet neighborhoods and low-traffic trails suit him best. Harvey is not a fit for homes with cats, small dogs, or small animals. With his lower-to-medium energy level, he enjoys playtime and activity but is just as happy lounging at home.

Harvey is ready for a loving home where he can continue to grow, play, and feel safe.

If you're interested in meeting Harvey, please email Ashley at ash654848@gmail.com.

www.coloradopuppy.org/how-to-adopt
