2618b Cupid - Adoption Ambassador's Story

Cupid is a young hound mix with a gentle soul and an exuberantly loving heart. He can be a bit shy at first, especially in new situations, but once he feels safe his true personality comes bursting out. When Cupid recognizes his human friends, he celebrates by tap-dancing on his front feet with pure joy — it’s impossible not to smile when he does it.

He absolutely loves other dogs and, being young, can handle a bit of rough-and-tumble play. That said, he has lovely social manners and will back off if another dog needs space. Cupid appears to be potty-trained, though he can still be unsure about doorways and may need a little patience and encouragement as he builds confidence.

True to his hound ancestry, Cupid enjoys the thrill of the chase, so a cat-free home is recommended (or at least a home with a dog-social cat who will not run from new dogs). Despite this, he is a total gentle giant at heart. He loves to play fetch, enjoys a good walk, and is just as happy curling up for a couch nap — especially if there’s sunshine involved, which happens to be his favorite thing in the world.

Cupid would make a wonderful moderate-energy companion for someone who wants the best of both worlds: a dog who enjoys activity but also knows how to relax and soak up the good life.

Cupid requires an appointment to meet him- his gentle nature was too shy for the main campus shelter and he is thriving at an offsite location in Ravenel. Appointments can be made by emailing TransitionCenter@charlestonanimalsociety.org!
