26Beaumont's Story

Name: 26-Beaumont aka Beau

Breed Mix: Cattle dog mix

Age: approx. 2-3 yrs.

Weight: 40 lbs.

Dogs: Good with all size dogs, guarded some toys a little inside the house

Cats: Good with cats, very gentle and does not chase them

Kids: 14+

House-trained: Yes, whines softly to go out

Crate Trained: Ok in a crate in the car, when crated in the house, gets stressed

Leash Trained: Needs work

Beaumont is a stunning cattle dog mix. Can be a little reserved at first meeting, but a sweet boy.

A household where lots of kids are running around being rambunctious may not be the best fit. In typical cattle dog style, he can get a little nippy and mouthy if riled up or if he wants attention. Typical cattle dog trait and not aggression. He is not a fan of a crate in the house and actually does better in a well fenced yard sitting on the deck if you need to run some errands. At night he does better sleeping on the hardwood floor than on a dog bed or crate.

He prefers to be with his people and can have a little separation anxiety so not a dog suited to being on his own for long stretches of time. He is good alone for a couple of hours.

Leash training is coming along. He does not pull hard and could use good training to learn how to walk under control on a leash. His recall needs work too, did some long line exercises and he does well but if a distraction comes, he does what he wants. I think he will pick it up quickly. He likes to go for walks, play fetch, play with hard chew toys or bones and is a fan of snuggling with his peeps.

He is such a good boy that probably had a rough start in life so he will need a patient adopter willing to work with him and do some training. He is hecka smart!!

If interested, we recommend submitting an adoption application at: www.foothilldogrescue.org

This dog will be available at Saturday’s adoption event at our rescue. Meet and greets are 11:00 - 1:00.

Our address is:

4131 S Shingle Rd suite 14
Shingle Springs, CA

Please bring all resident dogs and children that live in the household to the meet and greet.

Our adult dog adoption fee is $350 (with $5 processing fee if paid by card) and fee for pups under 4 months old is $400 (with $5 processing fee if paid by card). Adoption fee includes spay or neuter, rabies, DAPP and Bordetella vaccines, deworming, microchip, heart worm test and lifetime registration.
