Zorro's Story

Hi, I’m Zorro

I’m a 1-year-old, very handsome boy (I’ve been told this many times, so it must be true). I came into the shelter on New Year’s Eve with another cat, when our human lost their home. It was a scary way to start the new year, and I’m still figuring out how this whole shelter life works.

I’ll be honest with you—right now I can seem a little standoffish. The cage is confusing, noisy, and not at all like a real home. I’m trying to be brave, but I’ve been through a lot in a short amount of time. The humans here say that I might just need more time… or maybe a chance to be cage-free so I can show who I really am.

Because here’s the thing: I am friendly. That’s what my previous family told everyone, and I think they know me pretty well. When I was coming out of anesthesia after getting neutered on January 13th (yep—I'm all fixed and fully up to date on my vaccines!), the humans were able to pet me, and I liked it. A lot. I may play it cool, but gentle pats and kindness are definitely my thing.

I’m still young, still learning, and still healing—from change, from loss, from everything flipping upside down. What I really need now is patience, understanding, and someone willing to let me blossom at my own pace. I promise there’s a sweet, loving boy under this unsure exterior… he just needs a chance to feel safe again.

If you’re looking for a cat to grow with, to earn trust with, and to watch transform into the friendly companion everyone knows he can be, I think we might be perfect for each other.

Love,
Zorro

For more information, you can go to our web site and fill out an online application at: thepetrefuge.org and print and fill it out and email back to ShelterManager@thepetrefuge.org..
