Zoey's Story
Zoey is a gorgeous medium to long haired kitty (possible Maine Coon mix), appx 4 years old and appears to be very healthy. She’s been very low maintenance and uses the litter box religiously and loves almost every food we give her.

Her current setup up is that she has a whole bedroom to herself, but also has a huge cage (the cage door is open) which she likes to go back into as a security area. She also either has a box or a carrier in the cage which she used/uses for extra security. She loves running around the room and playing. She will need a scratching pad or two because I’ve not been able to trim her nails.

Zoey is a special case and will need an adopter who understands her shyness. She wants to be friendly, and when she hears her foster mom’s voice, she starts talking and rolling around on the floor of her room, and on her open cage shelves, etc. Her foster mom can even pet her while she’s rolling in her cage. And if her foster mom sits in Zoey’s room, Zoey will come around and get somewhat close to her foster mom, but just outside of arms’ reach, and then she starts rolling and talking away in her sweet, high-pitched voice.

Zoey has made nice strides while in our care, but may never be a cuddle bug, and may not love to be petted for long periods of time. We’ve adopted a few kitties like this out before and believe it or not, even though not terribly affectionate, the owner has reported the kitty sleeping with them, and showing that they like having their human around, but on their own “kitty” terms. Zoey enjoys my visits to her room, talks to me, and rolls, rolls, rolls around for me. But it may be a relationship from a distance. Hard to say though, given time and more attention, we’ve seen more progress.

We think she needs to be adopted by a female. She has not warmed up to her foster’s husband as much as with her foster mom, and her previous owner was female. Also, she likes food, and her foster mom is the one who feeds her. She inappropriately hisses at times, but just as a warning. She was not doing this prior to her first adoption. She is not an aggressive cat, and there’s something rather endearing about this lovely young lady. If she doesn’t get adopted, she will still have a home with her foster mom. However, we think she has potential, and you don’t get much better looking then our Zoey gal ?

We aren’t sure how she does with other cats. We have a couple of very aggressive cats and we didn’t want them to intimidate her, so have not let them mix.
Zoey is up to date on her vaccines, spayed, FIV/FELV negative, de-wormed, fecal tested negative.

Local adopters only [Northern VA].
Special adoption fee of $100.00
