ZINGO's Story

Meet Zingo, the newest addition here at the rescue. He's a young, friendly black tuxedo cat who is FIV+. And if that sounds familiar, it should! He is our SECOND young, friendly black tuxedo cat who is FIV+, the other being Indy. Perhaps they'd make the perfect pair for you!

Zingo, like Indy, is happy to make friends with anyone he meets. And he's a total lap cat! Give him the opportunity and he'll crawl right onto your lap and make himself comfy. Sometimes he doesn't realize how rough he plays, so Zingo wouldn't be a good fit for a house with small, young children.

There's a lot of stigma around FIV+ cats, but don't let that discourage you from welcoming one into your family! While there is no cure, FIV is not a death sentence, nor does it mean your cat can't live a perfectly healthy life! While it is true that FIV+ cats have a weakened immune system, as long as they're well taken care of and kept indoors, there's no reason they can't live just as long (and be just as healthy) as their FIV- counterparts. It's even possible for FIV+ cats to live in multi-cat homes, so long as the cats don't fight, as the infection is spread through deep wounds.

Ready to meet Zingp? You can stop in and meet any of our available pets during our open hours every Wednesday and Saturday.
