ZEPPLIN's Story
Brought to us as a stray, ZEPPLIN is finding comfort in hiding, behind his litter box or in the box up high, out of reach. He has allowed us to pet him, but he seems be afraid like he is not sure of the intentions. He did actually let one volunteer sit with him on her lap in a ball and though he flinched at first, he eventually relaxed a bit. He may not have had much contact with humans during the time he became a stray, or perhaps he was treated badly. He does like head, cheek, chin and ear scritches. He flinches when touched on the back or side, as if he's been hurt at some point. He loves treats and will eat them out of your hand. He is startled by loud noises and sudden movements. Best to approach slowly and quietly.

We do not know if he likes other cats, dogs, or children. Right now, he seems to just be waiting to see what is going to happen to him next. Given his fears of change, he may be best suited for a home where he is the only pet. He does not seem to do well with noisy, chaotic environments.

Some cats seem to adjust in a shelter rather quickly, but others never adjust. There is just a lot of noise, lots of other cats, strangers, no place they can feel comfortable and able to relax. ZEPPLIN does not hiss or run from affection, but he does not seek it. It's as if he is tense and waiting to see what happens next. Poor guy, he needs a quiet home with someone who has the time and patience to just let him chill and relax. If you think you might have the patience and could love him enough to let him learn to trust you in his own time, then you may be the person ZEPPLIN has been waiting for his whole life.

DOB-03/2022 Entered Shelter-03/25

If you are interested in adopting ZEPPLIN, please visit the shelter during our Adoption Hours, Mondays and Wednesdays, 4:00pm to 7:00pm, Saturdays 10:00am to 1:00pm, or call 231-773-3030 to make an appointment.
