Yogi's Story

(Clipped from local newspaper)

COMMUNITY LEFT STUNNED AS LOCAL GOLDEN RETRIEVER REVEALED TO BE A CAT ALL ALONG

A South Loop community was left reeling this week after a visitor revealed a well known golden retriever to actually be a cat.

“I’ve always been a dog person,” one resident reports, “that’s why I had no doubts about Yogi. He’d excitedly greet me at the door when I came home and he’d follow me around the house, keeping me company while making these sweet little sounds. Sure those sounds were a bit like meows, but I never thought once he could be a cat.”

Other neighbors agreed. “I’ve NEVER been a cat person. I like the loyalty and affection of a dog, how you feel like they want to spend time with you. They look forward to just hanging out, watching a movie together on the couch. What can I say, Yogi gave me all of that! Every night he curled up close to my head as if he was wanting to protect me while I slept. He would have fooled anyone.”

When asked how they confused what this reporter can tell clearly looks like a cat, residents shrugged. “I don’t know, he even played fetch! You don’t see that every day in a cat.”

Earlier this week an out of town visitor broke the news that this pup just didn’t add up. “No dog could have such silky soft fur or sweet little paws. I mean, his bright pink nosey gives it right away. Yogi is definitely a cat.”

And there it is folks, though he toes the line, this canine is genuine feline! And that’s the end of this headline!

If you live in Chicago and are interested in learning more about Yogi, please contact Toni McNaughton at tonimcn@rcn.com and Lisa Ward at catladychicago@yahoo.com.
