Yankee's Story

Meet Yankee!

Say hello to Yankee, a handsome orange boy born on April 15, 2026!

Yankee came to us VERY FERAL. When he first arrived at just 14 weeks old, he was so frightened that we couldn't even touch him without bite gloves. He had no idea that people could be kind and that he was safe.

But look at him now! Yankee has come such a long way since coming into our care. He is still a very scared little guy, and he will need a patient, understanding person who is willing to give him the time and space he needs to learn to trust.

Yankee is slowly discovering that not every person or everything around him is going to hurt him. He absolutely LOVES playing with the other cats here at the shelter and enjoys chasing and playing with his toys. He is even just now finding his kitten voice and learning what it means to simply be a kitten.

Yankee may not be the kitten who runs right up and jumps into your lap—but with patience, love, and consistency, we believe there is a sweet little boy hiding behind all that fear.

He needs someone who will look at him and say, “I have time. I will wait for you.”

Could you be the patient person Yankee has been waiting for?

Boonville Animal Control Shelter
1560 E. Sometimes the best way to earn a scared kitten's trust is simply to sit quietly and let him learn that you're not going anywhere.

Yankee is still learning how to be brave. Maybe you can be the person who teaches him that the world can be a safe and loving place.

#AdoptYankee #AdoptDontShop #ShelterKitten #OrangeKitten #RescueKitten #BoonvilleAnimalControl #BoonvilleMO #GiveThemTime #PatienceAndLove
