Yam's Story
Age: 1.5 Years
Wight: 12LBS
Fee: $40

Yam is a gentle, shy sweetheart who’s slowly blossoming into the affectionate, curious young cat he truly is. While he may take some time to warm up, once he feels safe, Yam reveals his soft, loving personality—and it’s impossible not to fall in love right back.

One of Yam’s greatest joys is spending time with his brother, Butternut. The two love to cuddle and keep each other company, and they would be thrilled to find a home together. That said, Yam would also likely enjoy any home with friendly cats; he really thrives with feline companionship.

He has done surprisingly well meeting dogs—though he can be a bit nervous—so a slow, gentle introduction and safe spaces to retreat to would help him feel secure. Yam may be happiest in a quieter home, where he can continue building confidence at his own pace.

If you’re looking for a sweet, sensitive, and curious young cat who just needs a little patience to shine, Yam might be the perfect fit. With love, stability, and maybe a feline friend by his side, this little orange boy will flourish.

At the Humane Society of Midland County, all animals adopted will be spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations prior to an adoption. Dogs over 6 months of age will be heartworm tested, and any dog with a positive test will receive treatment at No Appointment Needed to Meet Adoptable Animals!
We have open adoption hours, and walk-ins are always welcome! While filling out an application lets us know you're interested in adopting, it does not hold an animal, and applications are not required to meet the available animals. We do highly recommend and may require you to bring any dogs that reside in the same household, or that will be around commonly if you are meeting a new dog companion.

Want to Know if I’m Still Available?
Call the shelter at (989)-835-1877 to confirm my availability. If you’d like to show you’re thinking about adopting, please fill out an application on our website under "Adopt" at www.hsomc.org.

Open Adoption Hours:

Tuesday & Wednesday: Noon – 6 pm

Thursday & Friday: Noon – 7 pm

Saturday: Noon – 4 pm

I’m located at the Humane Society of Midland County, 4371 E Ashman St, Midland, MI 48642.

We can’t wait to meet you and help you find your new best friend!

no additional cost.
