Woodsie's Story

Hi! I'm Woodsie! I am sweet and playful tortie girl, and I have come such a long way. I came from a hoarding house with 39 other cats. I lived in the basement, away from most of the other kitties—there were only 7 of us down there. I didn't have any windows, I didn't get any daylight. I would lay on a serving tray like it was a bed. I had nothing.

After our owner passed away, the shelter worked to get us all out of the home. And that's when I started to blossom! I could jump up by the windows and watch the birdies and chipmunks. I love doing that! I get to sleep in a comfy bed—and any bed that I choose! I can sleep on a cat tree, I can sleep in a bed on the counter. I have so many options ... and I love it! I learned that I love to play! (And I got to experience catnip bubbles! SO FUN!)

I am FIV+, which is a feline immunodeficiency virus. It means my immune system is compromised, and it may have a harder time fighting off infections. I can live a happy, healthy normal life, with a normal life span. I cannot pass FIV onto humans, and FIV can only be spread to another cat through deep bite wounds, like you would see in cats living outside who might have to aggressively fight for food or territory.

Check out this FIV+ Cat Facts poster from Cole & Marmalade—https://coleandmarmalade.com/2019/04/15/more-cats-would-be-adopted-if-everyone-knew-these-facts-about-fiv-and-felv/

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Included in our adoption fee, all of our kitties are vaccinated, FELV / FIV tested, dewormed, microchipped, spayed / neutered, and checked out by a veterinarian.
