Wombat's Story

Wombat has officially graduated to free roam of the house, and we're discovering that this boy is an absolute little weirdo. In the best way, obviously.

He's a huge foodie and can usually be found lurking around the kitchen, hoping to steal a snack or two. With his long, lean body, ridiculously long legs, and big eyes, he's giving a little bit of Slenderman. A weird, slightly creepy guy who appears out of the shadows to investigate whatever you're eating. Honestly, we're here for it.

He's also starting to warm up to pets from his humans, and he absolutely loves playing with the other cats. He's still figuring things out, but we're getting glimpses of the personality that's been hiding underneath all that uncertainty.

Around a year old, Wombat has been through a major upheaval. His family was deported, leaving him and his brother Wallaby without anyone to care for them. Due to a language barrier between their family and the person who took them in, we have very little information about their life before coming to us.

Wombat will need a patient adopter who understands that trust takes time, maybe a few weeks. He's making progress at his own pace, and we're excited to see what else comes out of this goofy little shadow creature as he continues to settle in.

Wombat does not have to be adopted with Wallaby, although they can certainly be considered together. He is fully vetted and FeLV/FIV negative.

Despurate House Cats's Adoption Policy
The application process for adopting from our cat rescue includes several important steps: Application Form on Website: You must fill out an application form available on the rescue's website. This form will ask for your personal details, your home environment, and other relevant information about your lifestyle and preferences to help match you with a suitable cat. Vet Reference: You are required to provide a reference from your veterinarian. This helps the rescue ensure you have a history of responsible pet ownership and good veterinary care for your previous or current pets. Landlord Reference (if leasing): If you rent your home, you will need to provide a reference from your landlord. This confirms that you have permission to have a cat in your rental property and ensures that the living conditions are suitable for adopting a pet. Home Visit: As part of the adoption process, a home visit will be conducted. A representative from the rescue will visit your home to ensure it’s a safe and appropriate environment for a cat. This visit will also include meeting your current pets to assess if they will get along with the new cat. The rescue wants to ensure that the new addition to your family will be compatible with your existing pets and that everyone will feel comfortable and safe. Once all these steps are completed and reviewed, the rescue will make a decision about your application.
