Winter's Story

Winter is a beautiful white and tabby 8-month-old kitten with beautiful eyes lined with black, and she has the loudest purr you’ll ever hear. She won't grace you with it right away though, because she's shy at first, but just give her time to acclimate to you and a new environment and you'll be justly rewarded with her mighty roar! Winter is a big fan of cats, so her perfect home will have one (or more), and her feline friend will also help make her adjustment easier. She just loves other cats!

Winter was rescued, along with her 3 brothers, from a construction site in Brooklyn when she 3 months. They had very little contact with humans before being brought inside, making her and her siblings pretty shy to start. Every day though her confidence and trust are growing. She also loves to play, whether it’s going after all sorts of balls and mice or playing with you and another cat with a wand toy.

Winter was initially being fostered with one of her brothers, but he was very type A, which prevented her from getting the attention she deserved. Now she is in foster care by herself so she gets all the attention, playtime, and treats, but she will be happiest in a home with another cat.

Although Winter will be shy at first, it’s so rewarding to work with a sweet and gentle cat like her and watch them blossom right in front of your eyes! Winter is spayed, FeLV and FIV negative, microchipped, and up to date on her vaccines. If you want to open your home and heart to a kitten that will be shy at first -- and gain a best friend for your resident cat -- Winter is the gal for you!

Backyard Cats of Bed-Stuy's Adoption Policy
I ask that everyone interested in adopting a cat from me starts the application process by filling out my adoption application! The more details you can provide, the better. You can find the app here: https://www.backyardcatsofbedstuy.com/adoption-application Once I've received your application, if I'm interested in moving forward I'll reach out to schedule a Zoom call (or sometimes an in-person meeting, where possible). I often have the foster join as well to talk more specifically about each cat's personality and needs. If the meet-and-greet goes well, and if requested, the potential adopter can arrange a time to meet the cat(s) at their foster homes, or they can start out with a trial "foster-to-adopt" period of one month, to make sure it is a good fit for both cats and humans. A cat isn't considered "fully adopted" until they have been through proper vetting (spayed or neutered, given rabies and FVRCP vaccines, tested for FeLV and FIV, microchipped, and dewormed and treated for fleas). I love to stay in touch with my adopters and often receive updates about their new pets thriving in their forever homes!
