Winter's Story

Winter is a beautiful white and tabby 7-month-old kitten with beautiful eyes lined with black, and she has the loudest purr you’ll ever hear. She adores her brother, Summer, and Paulo, her foster’s resident cat, whether it’s napping with them in a cuddle puddle or besting them chasing after a wand toy.

Winter is initially cautious and will take a little time to warm up, in part because she has a very outgoing brother, Summer, who wants to be the star of the show, and in part because she was rescued when she was 3 months old, having had little contact with people prior to that. But give her a little time and she will grace you with her mighty purr! And every day her confidence and trust are growing, learning from both her brother and her foster’s resident cat.

Winter and Summer must be adopted together. Summer is the easy, outgoing one of the pair, whereas Winter will make you work for it a bit, but it’s so rewarding to work with a shy cat and watch them blossom right in front of your eyes! Winter is spayed, FeLV and FIV negative, microchipped, and up to date on her vaccines. She and her brother are so ready to find their forever home!

Backyard Cats of Bed-Stuy's Adoption Policy
I ask that everyone interested in adopting a cat from me starts the application process by filling out my adoption application! The more details you can provide, the better. You can find the app here: https://www.backyardcatsofbedstuy.com/adoption-application Once I've received your application, if I'm interested in moving forward I'll reach out to schedule a Zoom call (or sometimes an in-person meeting, where possible). I often have the foster join as well to talk more specifically about each cat's personality and needs. If the meet-and-greet goes well, and if requested, the potential adopter can arrange a time to meet the cat(s) at their foster homes, or they can start out with a trial "foster-to-adopt" period of one month, to make sure it is a good fit for both cats and humans. A cat isn't considered "fully adopted" until they have been through proper vetting (spayed or neutered, given rabies and FVRCP vaccines, tested for FeLV and FIV, microchipped, and dewormed and treated for fleas). I love to stay in touch with my adopters and often receive updates about their new pets thriving in their forever homes!
