Winston's Story

Meet Winston! A Playful Little Guy Who’s Learning to Love the Good Life! Winston came to us with his three siblings when he was just over four weeks old. All four were spicy little ferals, and Winston was a bit slower than his siblings to embrace the “tame life.” But a few weeks ago, he moved to a foster home where he could spend time with the resident adult cats instead of just his littermates, and something finally clicked! Watching the big cats show him the ropes seems to have made all the difference. These days, Winston is a silly, playful little guy who loves batting around his toys, climbing the cat tower, and exploring his surroundings. He absolutely adores the resident cats and follows them around to see what they’re up to. Having feline friends has really helped him come out of his shell! Winston is still a bit of an independent soul when it comes to people. He doesn’t enjoy being chased or picked up, but he does like being near you. If you’re relaxing in a chair watching TV, he may settle down on the floor nearby so he can keep you company. He’ll also happily accept some pets while he’s sleepy and relaxed, and you might even be rewarded with a purr! He isn’t a lap cat just yet, and he much prefers cuddling with his cat buddies, but I think there’s potential for him to become more affectionate as he continues to gain confidence. Winston’s ideal home is one with at least one friendly, playful resident cat who can be his companion and help him continue learning that people are pretty wonderful, too. I’m not sure how he would do as an only cat, since his feline friends are such an important part of his world. He would also do best in a home without very young children who might chase him or try to pick him up. A patient family willing to let him build trust at his own pace will be rewarded with a fun, entertaining little companion who loves being part of the action—even if he prefers to keep all four paws on the floor! Winston may not be the kitten who immediately leaps into your lap, but he has plenty of personality and affection to offer in his own way. He’s looking for a family who will appreciate him for who he is and give him the time and space to blossom. Winston is ready to find his people!

All of our cats and kittens are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, treated for roundworms and other parasites as needed . Adoption includes a fleece blanket and discount coupons.

South County Cats is a volunteer-driven, IRS 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our kittens are fostered in volunteers' homes. Please see our Adoption Policies at http://www.southcountycats.org/scc-adoption-policies where you can also find our Adoption Application. Please ask us about our policies if you have questions.

Adoption donation - $140 (cash)/$145 (Venmo) for kittens and $80 (cash)/$85 (Venmo) for adult cats and kittens over six months old. This helps cover the spay or neuter and care of this kitten and the spay or neuter of its mother and other household/yard cats to stop the uncontrolled breeding that leads to overpopulation and homelessness. Adopted cats and kittens MUST go home in a secure carrier, no cardboard boxes.

Our adoption application can be found at https://form.jotform.com/200017468978059.
