Winnie's Story

Hi, I'm Winnie. I love cuddles and gentle pats. Life was quiet until a tiny, loud human joined my family. I felt scared and hid away, losing my appetite. Now, I'm at a new place called Paws Animal Shelter, with kind people who understand my need for a calm environment. I'm looking for a home where I can be your sweet, cuddly companion. Let's create a peaceful world together, just for us.

Note from Paws humans: Winnie was adopted from Paws in 2021, and she did great with her family until they recently had a baby. That really stressed her out, and she started hiding, not eating well, and over grooming to the point of causing open sores. They took her to the vet, and they prescribed anxiety medication for her, but she would not take the medication. On top of the new baby, the family was also moving to Minnesota. They decided a long road trip and a new home on top of the baby would be too much for Winnie to handle so they made the painful decision to return her to us. She is somewhat timid and probably won't come out to greet you if you visit her, but she loves to have you sit by her and pet her. She purrs then, and it clearly makes her happy. She just needs a calm, baby-free home to thrive. To apply to adopt any of our cats or kittens, please visit our website and fill out our on-line application at https://www.pawsurbana.org/apply-to-adopt.

We do not do same-day adoptions, as we have an adoption application which must be completed and verified. We also require that all of the cats and kittens adopted from us must be kept exclusively indoors.
