Winnie's Story

At 6 years old, Winnie is ready for a new beginning.

Winnie came to us through no fault of her own when her beloved owner had to move and was unable to take her along. We know Winnie was deeply loved, and sometimes life puts people in heartbreaking situations beyond their control.

Despite all the changes in her world, Winnie has adjusted beautifully to shelter life. She loves greeting visitors, happily soaks up attention, and never turns down a good petting session. She's the kind of cat who makes you feel welcome the moment you meet her.

During her intake, Winnie tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). While that diagnosis may sound scary, FIV does not mean Winnie can't have a long, happy, fulfilling life.

FIV-positive cats can live for many years and enjoy all the things other cats do like playing, lounging in sunny spots, getting spoiled, and being deeply loved. FIV is primarily spread through deep bite wounds, so it is generally not transmitted through sharing food or water bowls, litter boxes, grooming, cuddling, or simply living together. This means FIV-positive cats can often safely share a home with other friendly cats.

Winnie is so much more than her diagnosis. She's a sweet, affectionate girl who has already been through a lot of change and deserves the chance to settle into a forever home.

She's ready to trade shelter life for soft beds, sunny windows, endless pets, and a family who will love her exactly as she is.
