Winifred's Story

Winifred came to us when a discheveled woman walked into the building with Wini in her arms. Immediately we knew we needed to help her, flea dermatitis covering her body. The woman’s story didn’t add up, but that didn’t matter to us. We just wanted to make sure she was safe. Winifred turned to a cat in the adoption room, that we never expected from her cage presence. Winifred is all love, just wants to be the center of everyone’s attention. She’s extremely vocal, and will quickly let her presence be known. Any kind of affection she’ll easily accept, she loves hugs and kisses and loved even more cuddling up with other cats. Winifred is the perfect cat. Our vet estimates her to be about five years old, you’d never guess by her petite stature.

Town of Huntington Cat Shelter operated by Little Shelter Animal Rescue's Adoption Policy

Upon arriving at Town of Huntington Cat Shelter, you will be guided through our shelter with an adoption counselor, who will show you all the pets you are interested in, as well as pets that fit your lifestyle. You must be 21 years of age or older to adopt. All household members must come to Town of Huntington Cat Shelter to meet your new pet. Upon finding the ideal pet for you, you and the adoption counselor will place the animal on hold for 48 hours. Town of Huntington Cat Shelter does not do same day adoptions. During the hold period our adoption counselors will check two personal references for the adopters and a secondary owner, as well as perform a veterinarian check. If you have a landlord, we will check your building's policies on pet ownership. Upon completing this process, the adopters will come back and take their newly adopted pet home, and will get to take a family photo with their pet. Congratulations! If you have a dog, an animal interaction is required. This is usually the first step in the adoption process.
