Wilson

Wilson came in with Pua when their family was left with no more options. Their family was military and was given little time to plan when they were informed of being separated due to budget cuts. In addition, they had to pay for their own move back home to Hawaii. This left them with no options to be able to bring Wilson & Pua to quarantine in Hawaii. Due to the quick nature of the move, they also were going to have to move in with their parents who have another child with cat allergies making this option completely nonviable. The family attempted to contact the original facility the cats were adopted from but had difficulty making contact and when they did, were told no. Another organization replied back to them but, understandably, also told them no since they were not adopted out from their organization. The family was distraught knowing they had to board a plane at 6a the next day and had no where safe for their cats. They stopped by unannounced to our Volunteer Hub and as luck would have it, we were in a position to take them in. Wilson and Pua will never have to be in this position again as AEL promises to support our adoptables and their families for the lifetime of the animal. We will help figure out a solution and if returning them to the rescue is the best or most desired option, we support our families in this way. Pua is much more social than Wilson under stress but once Wilson understands he can trust you he will approach you to be pet. They both prefer if they can come up to you on her own will. Wilson also enjoys munching on Sheba meaty sticks. Wilson has grown up with Pua since he was a kitten. We would love to see them be adopted together but are not requiring it at this time. Wilson is also into theatrics and will cause a ruckus when stressed. He is given gabapentin prior to vet appointments or travel and will have it sent home with him. We have a trick to get him to eat it and will show this to adopters upon a meet and greet.Our adoption process is simple, relationship-centered, and provides supportive education. You can expect your adoption interest to go like this:<br/>1. Submit your electronic form<br/>2. An AEL representative will contact you to schedule a phone call or adoption counsel session.<br/>3. Come to your adoption counsel session to meet the pet you're interested in and ready to take them home with you (dependent on the pet, some need more than one meet)<br/>4.
