Willy's Story
Willy is a 4 year old boy who was originally adopted from the shelter as a tiny kitten. His brave young owner has made the decision to join the military & now Willy is losing everything he knows. The owner was prepared with a new adopter lined up, but they bailed on her the day before she was scheduled to leave. We were contacted in a frantic & asked to help. Although we dont normally take cats, we did bring Willy in! The shelter had a surrender waiting list, the owner had no time to contact cat rescues (who are usually all full with their own wait list), and Willy had zero places to turn to. He was very nervous about the transition & spent 2 days not super happy at all. But after that he decided that I was okay & began chirping to me from across the door, rubbing on my legs, & begging for scratches! I anticipate he will go thru a similar scared/hissy phase when he comes into his new home but it should be very brief, just until he gets his bearings. The owner said he has always been shy yet quick to open up when meeting new people. <br/>We are really hoping he can find a quiet home ASAP to decompress & settle into his new normal! Temporary rescue/foster living is not the ideal situation for a scared confused cat. While he is significantly less stressed, he is still confined to a small room compared to free roaming as he was previously used to, and this causes cats to become restless. Willy is already neutered & chipped. He has not yet been to the vet for a current checkup or vaccinations. His adoption fee will be $50 and that will cover a prepaid vet exam that you can bring him to, after hes had some time to settle in, for routine exam + vax to be received at a later date.
