Willow's Story

Not Tested

Good with cats? Yes, Willow grew up with siblings and would play happily. Her siblings have been adopted and she also thrives with human love, attention and play. Since SNAP testing has indicated that she is FeLV+, she must not have contact with FeLV- cats.

Good with kids? Not Tested

Energy level: Medium. Willow loves to run and chase balls, play in empty boxes and tunnels, and play hide and seek. She also loves to sit in your lap and be snuggled!

Medical needs: Willow a fun, happy, energetic, joyful, asymptomatic kitten who has no idea that she has tested positive for FeLV+ per 2 SNAP tests performed in rescue. FeLV, Feline Leukemia Virus, is spread through saliva, mutual grooming, food bowls and litter boxes. Unfortunately, there is currently no definitive cure for FeLV. Cats with FeLV can live normal lives for prolonged periods of time. The median survival time for cats after FeLV is diagnosed is 2.5 years, but this can be much longer for cats who develop a regressive infection, which PCR testing can help confirm. Once a cat has been diagnosed with FeLV, careful monitoring of weight, appetite activity level, elimination habits, appearance of the mouth and eyes, and behavior is an important part of managing this disease. Any signs of abnormality in any of these areas should prompt immediate consultation with a veterinarian. PCR testing is recommended in 3 months to confirm Willow’s condition and what stage it is at, as SNAP tests can sometimes bring false positives. Until more is known, it is crucial that Willow be treated as if she most likely is FeLV+, meaning no contact with any FELV- cats.

Animal Characteristics: Willow is a beautiful, sweet, loving kitten who is very social, happy and affectionate. She’s an orange tabby girl, which means she has rare, special coloring! She loves meeting new people and will curl up to snuggle in your lap. She loves to be held and cuddled! Willow is a precious girl who would love to enjoy her little life, even if it contains more uncertainty than an average kitten’s future. She needs a very dedicated adopter who can carefully monitor her health, keep her safe and comfortable, and be sure that she needs any and all veterinary attention that she needs. Willow has so much love to share in her forever home!

Please learn more about the adoption process and fill out an application at
www.pawsco.org/adopt/adoption-process. My adoption fee is $200. You can also contact my friends at PawsCo at adopt@pawscoadoptions.org if you have questions. I look forward to meeting you!
