Willie's Story

******Please do not email asking if a pet is still available. The cats/kittens are removed from the site once we have received enough applications to review. Thank you!******

Willie ~ Male ~ Grey/Black/White Mackerel Tabby ~ DOB: 01/13/2023 (Approximately 2 years old)

Wille came to us after he was found injured on Cottage Street in CF. He had wounds that needed to be treated and, as usual, our foster couple did a great job healing his injuries.

Willie did get all of his vetting done and it was discovered he was FIV+. In the past many thought that this diagnosis meant the cat would have a stunted life expectancy or that you could not have an FIV+ cat with other cats. Neither of those thoughts are true.
Actual facts of FIV is:
- Most cats with FIV maintain strong immune systems for many years, often all their lives.
- Most FIV cats live normal length of lives if properly cared for.
- The virus only affects cats, and cannot be passed to other species, either animal or human.
- The virus has only been shown to be transmitted via a bite. It is because of this that the often prescribed "keep separate from other cats" is NOT valid. FIV+ cats can live communally with non-FIV cats with very little risk of the virus being transmitted between them - unless the cat is a fighter and gives another cat a serious bite, which is rare with properly introduced household cats. The vast majority of cats, once neutered, will not bite other cats they live with - they may play and scrap, but this rarely leads to the serious bite required to inject the virus.
- In the last 20 years there is no evidence of transmission via sharing food bowls or mutual grooming.

Willie is a very sweet cat who loves attention almost as much as he loves lying back in his hammock in his cage. This boy is very handsome and so worthy of a family and home of his own.

Our adoptions run as follows:

SCHEDULED VISITS: We are a rescue group which means all of our cats/kittens are technically in foster care. We are not set up for drop in visits.

ADOPTION FEE: Our adoption fee is $150 per pet.

APPLICATION: Our adoption application is posted here: http://bit.ly/app-cats
(copy and paste into your web browser's address bar) or you will find it located in our “MORE ABOUT US” section. Once we receive your application, and a background check is completed, a meeting with the pet of your choice will be scheduled.

AGE: You must be 21 or older to adopt from our rescue. Sorry!

NO STATE RESTRICTIONS: We do not restrict our adoptions to RI.

CONTACT: All of our contact is done through e-mails until you are called by David who is the gentleman that reviews all of our applicants.

PERSONALITIES: All the information available about this pets personality, likes, background, etc... are listed in this write up. Remember – most of our pets come from off the streets and we are just learning about them also.

COMPATIBILITY: Our foster couple only have cats and kittens in their home. We have no way of knowing what the reaction would be with our foster animals meeting your children or pets. As with all new introductions, it would take time and effort on your part to introduce them slowly and give them their own space when needed.

HEALTHY - All of our pets will be fully vetted, FIV/FeLV combo tested, current on all shots, microchipped and spayed/neutered BEFORE heading off to their new home.

BE PATIENT PLEASE: Dave and Sue have many applications that they review every day (on top of care for all the fosters cats and kittens) and the process can take time. Please be patient with us.

Please remember that we work on a first come/best fit basis so the sooner you get your application back the better your chances are that you will have a new love in your life.

P.S.: Our ACO is not involved with any of the cat/kitten placement procedures so please do not contact her for assistance. You will simply be sent back to us. Thank you!!! ~ Carol
