Wilbur Wright's Story

Wilbur Wright

Introducing Wilber Wright and Amelia Earhart! Wilbur and Amelia were found in the short-term parking lot of a very busy airport!

One of our volunteers was coming home from a trip and upon returning to her car at the airport, she saw a little cat run underneath the cars. Unable to do anything at the time, she contacted the group about the sighting, and we organized a trip to the airport a few days later. We went back to the same spot and couldn’t believe it, but the little cat showed up around 8pm. A little black fluffy kitty was darting around, and we had him trapped within about 10 minutes as he was so very hungry. We named him Wilbur Wright. A parking attendant told us that there was at least one other cat. So, we set the traps again and within minutes, we had a little brown tabby, and we named her Amelia Earhart.

Returning them to the parking lot at the airport wasn’t an option, so after they had spay/neuter surgeries, we placed them with a foster while we looked for a safer option of a home for them.

It is unknown if they are related as it turned out that Wilbur has either been around people before or just has a trusting disposition. Because he was friendly, we wanted to give them both a chance of socializing. Amelia is a bit more skeptical, but she is making great progress. They are now around 5 months old. While they do not have to be adopted together, Amelia must have a friendly confident feline in her home to show her the ropes. Wilbur enjoys the resident male cat and playing with Amelia so he likely would also benefit from a friend.

Wilbur is just a hoot. He is a very happy boy who has a deafening purr. He loves to play, chase toys around, climb the cat tree, wrestle with Amelia and loves to be held. He is very excited when his foster mom comes in with food or to visit. He weaves in between her legs so much that she shuffles around as to not step on him or get tripped. He chirps when he is playing and will meow for his dinner. With his long hair, he will have to be brushed regularly and he does enjoy it.

Let’s get these two adventurers’ homes so they can fly out of here!

You can follow them on their foster's social media accounts:

https://www.facebook.com/ItsyWhiskeyLinxHQ

IG: @itsybitsyhq https://www.instagram.com/itsybitsyhq/
