Wesson's Story

Meet Wesson!

Wesson may be a cat, but he mirrors a pot-belly pig—complete with a lovable beer gut and a strong passion for food! To maintain that signature belly, he insists on regular snacks and mealtimes (he’d happily eat 4–5 times a day if it were up to him!).

He’s a shy little guy who will take some time to come around as he firmly believes in “stranger danger,” so new faces need to exercise patience with him. Once he feels safe, Wesson is full of loyalty, affection, and cuddles.

Wesson loves to play, especially with gentle, quiet toys like catnip and boxes, but he goes bonkers for feathers on a teaser wand, and for toys that skitter and move. He also is a big fan of getting brushed until he’s purring with delight. He’s also accustomed to a catio—a screened-in porch where he can sunbathe, roll in dirt, and chase bugs to his heart’s content.

Wesson lives in a home with friendly dogs, but... he is sassy and hissy to them on a regular basis, so we think he would prefer a cat only home. He adores other kitties and has been raised with cats of all ages, making him a social and friendly feline companion when it comes to his own kind. With patience, quiet play and plenty of treats Wesson slowly shows his sweet, cuddly side. A calm home, loving humans, and snacks on schedule make him the happiest little companion.

If interested in meeting Wesson, please submit an application here: https://fjcasp.wufoo.com/forms/adoption-application/

Friends of Jackson County Animal Shelter Pets's Adoption Policy
We all spend a lot of love, time and money on these animals and want to see them go to good, permanent, loving homes with people who have the knowledge and means to take care of them. OUR ADOPTION FEE is $180.00 WE ABSOLUTELY REQUIRE THAT ALL POTENTIAL ADOPTERS PROVIDE VET REFERENCES SO WE CAN CALL AND DETERMINE THAT ANY PAST OR EXISTING ANIMALS IN THEIR CARE ARE BEING KEPT UP TO DATE ON VACCINATIONS, PREVENTATIVES AND ARE SPAYED/NEUTERED. The reason for this is that we want to make sure that our animals are going to a home where they will be safe and healthy and be kept up to date on vet care. Most veterinary offices are familiar with this protocol so when you ask for a vet reference, they know what you mean. WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT ALL POTENTIAL ADOPTERS UNDERSTAND THAT ADOPTING AN ANIMAL IS A LONG TERM COMMITMENT AND THAT THEY ARE CAPABLE OF TAKING CARE OF AN ANIMAL LONG TERM. Also we need to establish that any potential adopter has a safe, fenced yard; and will provide shelter for the animal. We also want to ensure that they know how to introduce a new animal into their home, to their existing pets, to children, etc. We require all of our animals to be indoor pets. ALL ADOPTIONS MUST BE FINALIZED AND APPROVED BY THE FJCASP BOARD. This is to ensure that an experienced person has some oversight on the adoption process; to make sure everyone understands their responsibilities and that the animal will be safe. IT IS PART OF OUR CONTRACT THAT ANY AND ALL MEDICAL TREATMENTS, VETERINARY COSTS, PREVENTATIVES, FOOD AND SHELTER ARE THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE ADOPTER.
