Wesson's Story

Meet Wesson!

Wesson came into foster care as a tiny newborn, with his umbilical cord still attached — and from that very first moment, he showed just how strong and special he is.

He has been raised in a home with cats of all ages, whom he absolutely adores. He also lives with three large dogs, which he tolerates… but truthfully, Wesson would do best in a dog-free home. He can get a little sassy with dogs for absolutely no reason (pure cat logic), and we want him to feel as comfortable and confident as possible.

In his foster home, Wesson is full of confidence and charm. He zooms around the house like he owns it, demands his meals right on schedule, rubs all over his foster mom, happily sits in her lap, and loves to play. Treats are serious business for Wesson — and sharing them is simply not an option.

That said, Wesson is very aware that new places are not his comfort zone. In a new home, he will be scared and will need plenty of time, patience, reassurance, and (very importantly) treats to help him feel safe. He firmly believes he is being kidnapped during transitions — dramatic, yes, but in his mind, completely real.

Wesson is looking for a very special family — one who understands that trust takes time and love can’t be rushed. You don’t just choose Wesson… Wesson has to choose you, too. And when he does, the bond will be something truly special.

If interested in meeting Wesson, please submit an application here: https://fjcasp.wufoo.com/forms/adoption-application/

Friends of Jackson County Animal Shelter Pets's Adoption Policy
At FJCASP, we dedicate a great deal of love, time, and resources to caring for our animals, and our top priority is to see them go to permanent, loving homes with people who have the knowledge and means to provide proper care. Adoption Fee: $80–$150 Vet References Required We require that all potential adopters provide veterinary references. This allows us to confirm that any current or past pets have been kept up to date on vaccinations, preventatives, and are spayed/neutered. Most veterinary offices are familiar with this request. Our goal is to ensure that our animals are placed in homes where they will remain safe, healthy, and properly cared for. Long-Term Commitment Adopting a pet is a serious, long-term commitment. We want all potential adopters to understand their responsibilities and be prepared to care for an animal for its lifetime. Home Requirements To provide a safe environment, we require that adopters provide: - Proper shelter for the animal - Understanding of how to introduce a new pet to children and existing animals -Commitment to keeping the animal as an indoor pet Adoption Approval All adoptions must be finalized and approved by the FJCASP Board. This ensures oversight by experienced individuals who can confirm that all parties understand their responsibilities and that the animal’s welfare is prioritized. Adopter Responsibilities It is part of our adoption agreement that all medical treatments, veterinary costs, preventatives, food, and shelter are the sole responsibility of the adopter. Our goal is to place each animal in a loving, safe, and permanent home, and these guidelines help us ensure that every adoption is successful for both the pet and the adopter.
