Welch's Story

Our Welch, a resilient and incredibly affectionate boy who has already proven he's a fighter! Born around 4/15/25 and with us since July, this sweet boy is ready to put his rough start behind him and become the cozy, purring heart of your home.
He's got a long bio with lots of information but, he's worth it and we are dedicated to find the perfect match for him after this journey he's had.
?
* Welch is so soft and plushy! He is extremely affectionate, always purry, and happily makes biscuits.
* He gets so excited for cuddles that he even drools a little bit and might give a gentle "love nibble".
* Welch would really thrive with someone who works from home or in a house where he isn't alone for too long. He is truly desperate for his forever best friend.
* Once he trusts you, his favorite place is right next to you, often sleeping head-to-head under the blankets (or draped around your head if you let him!).
?
* He enjoys hiding and sleeping in dark, cozy spots—under the bed, under blankets, or in a safe little cave. He feels safest in these dark places!
* Loud noises (like a passing car) will send him running to hide Luckily, he’s highly treat motivated! Once he sees you settle in, he’ll usually sneak out to join you. (Tuna Churu are his favorite right now!)
* He has been exposed to very kitty-friendly dogs (whom he does not mind!) and gets along wonderfully with respectful feline friends and kiddos age 7+.

? Welch is NOT a Russian Blue. Please do not apply if you are applying because you want a Russian Blue. He is just a GORGEOUS boy. ???

?Welch is FIV positive, but please don't let that scare you! Cats with Feline Immunodeficiency Virus can and do live long, healthy, and happy lives. By adopting Welch, you are choosing a cat full of love who simply needs a watchful, dedicated family.

Welch's Perfect Home Must Provide:
* Indoor ONLY: This is vital for his health, as it protects his immune system and prevents the spread of the virus.
* Respectful Companions: He can join a home with other spayed or neutered cats who are respectful and non-aggressive.
* Long-Term Commitment: An adopter who is committed to his lifelong wellness.

Key Tips for FIV+ Wellness:
* Veterinary Care: You will need to have an established vet that we can verify. This is non-negotiable. We know it's hard to get appointments but, Welch will need to have an adopter that is serious about being dedicated to his long term health with annual or bi-annual (twice-yearly) check-ups. Early detection of any secondary infections is key, and your vet must be aware of his FIV status to best guide preventative care and dental health.

* Diet: Avoid raw food to minimize the risk of food-borne bacteria that could cause illness.

* Life Expectancy: FIV+ cats often have a normal lifespan!

The biggest danger for FIV+ cats is the misconception that they are sick or unadoptable.

Ready to open your heart and home to this velvety soft, purring goofball?

Kitten Rescue of Mason County's Adoption Policy
Thank you for considering adopting a cat from us! This page has important information that you need to know before you adopt from Kitten Rescue. Visitation of cats and kittens is by email appointment only. All available kittens will only be posted on our website kittenresq.net at this time. Our adoption fees are as follows: Kitten (under 6 months) $150 (two for $225) with Microchip Purebred Cats (Special Pricing by Breed) Teens (6-12 months) $95 (two for $150) with Microchip Adults (over 12 months) $75 (two for $100) with Microchip We adopt to qualified homes (indoor only) on a first-come-first-served basis. Kitten Rescue is a privately run, non-profit organization and reserves the right to refuse any adoption that is not in the best interest of the cat or kitten. Please see our adoption principles and policies below. We have an adoption screening process that helps ensure that we place our cats in loving, responsible, and committed homes. We use the screening process to help us understand your needs and expectations and to help determine the best home for each cat or kitten. We want to ensure the health and safety of our cats as well as their compatibility with the adoptive family for a happily ever after! Our principals and policies: Cats must be indoors only. Cats who are kept indoors can reach the ripe old age of 17 or more years, whereas outdoor cats live an average of just two to five years. Cats cannot be declawed. Declawing requires removing all or part of the third bone from their paw. This is not a harmless operation. Also, should your cat get outside, it has no means of defending itself or climbing a tree to get away from predators. Adopter has the financial means to take care of cat. This includes not only food and litter, but also veterinary costs for routine care and for emergencies. If renting, adopter has permission to own pet. Kittens and some adult cats must be adopted in pairs unless you already have a young, compatible cat at home or are at home the majority of the time. It is possible that you might not get the cat or kitten you initially wanted or see on our web pages. We strive to make both our adoptable pets and our adopting families as happy as possible but we may feel that another kitten would be a better fit. All household members must agree to the adoption. The continued health and safety of our cats and kittens is our primary concern. Our volunteers spend hours socializing the cats and kittens and we make sure that all have had proper medical care, immunizations, internal/external parasite control and have been spayed or neutered before adoption. Adoptions are a lifetime commitment. You must plan on taking your cat with you when you move. In the event that you must give up your cat, it must be returned to Kitten Rescue (on a space-available basis) or Kitten Rescue must OK re-homing. Just like with your children, you must have a plan for who will care for your pets should something happen to you.
