At Pooka’s Purrhouse Rescue, our top priority is the long-term well-being and safety of every cat we place. Because many of our rescues come from high-risk environments, we are committed to ensuring each adoption is a thoughtful, permanent match. We follow a careful screening process that includes: A detailed application A conversation (via phone or in-person) to learn about the adopter’s home, lifestyle, and experience with animals Verification of pet-friendly housing (if applicable) A meet-and-greet with the cat A home visit or virtual tour, depending on location All of our cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and medically assessed prior to adoption. We also provide guidance for integrating shy or formerly feral cats into a home environment. We reserve the right to deny any adoption we feel is not in the best interest of the animal. Our goal is not simply to place cats quickly, but to find the right home — a safe, loving, and stable environment where each cat can thrive.
