We Have Male and Female Barn Cats!'s Story

Are you looking for a cat or two or more for you barn? If not, do you know someone who is?

Some of the cats we rescue from unsafe conditions are not suited to be indoor house pets but could thrive as barn cats. Some may lack refined socialization skills, but they integrate well into the rest of the farm family. Given food, water, and shelter, these cats could live out their lives and even help control your rodent population.
Forgotten Cats’ barn cats may be cats who are social but too feisty interacting with people to be acceptable as indoor family pets. They may be shy or fearful of people and prefer the company of other cats and animals. They may be cats whose litterbox habits make them unsuitable to live indoors (and for whom medical issues have been ruled out). Or they may be truly feral but unable to go back to where they are found due to dangerous or life-threatening living conditions. The barn life is often a perfect middle ground for this special segment of the domestic feline population.
Barn cats often make wonderful outdoor family pets for farm families. They can be loving and affectionate on their own terms while “working” in the barn, helping to keep the rodent population in check!
At Forgotten Cats, all cats in its barn cat program are fully vetted. They are spayed/neutered and vaccinated and have received whatever medical care they may have needed. Individuals interested in adopting barn cats must be able to provide the cats with warm and safe shelter, a dependable source of food, fresh water and vet care. Barns, stables, and sheds are all considered suitable shelters for these cats.
These mousers will provide totally organic rodent control! There is no fee charged to you for a Forgotten Cats barn cat. After chatting with one of our barn cat program volunteers to make sure you are prepared to care for your new cats, Forgotten Cats volunteers will even deliver them to you! Forgotten Cats often has barn cats available for immediate adoption. If not, they will place your name on their barn cat program waiting list.
If this sounds like a purrfect option for your barn or stable, contact Forgotten Cats, info@forgottencats.org. Thank you!
