Vance's Story

FIV+Vance is a large, gentle, laid-back cat who we think is about four years old. This super friendly guy went into one of our traps during a TNR project in 2023. He was adopted from right around the Christmas holidays in 2023.

We got him back because......we don't know why. He's a great cat. Perhaps something was going on in his home that made them unable to keep him. At any rate this guy is super bummed out that he is not looking for his third home in his four years of life. And we are sad for him too.

He loves snuggling and loves the adults in his foster home. He is not currently living with children. Vance seems to be cat selective and may very well be happiest being your one and only, where he can receive all of the attention. He is FIV-positive, but don't let that worry you. FIV-positive simply means that it is important to keep him healthy and current on vaccines. FIV-positive cats can and do live with FIV-negative cats and typically live as long as FIV-negative cats. Vance is also on a diet of prescription urinary dry food and non prescription urinary canned food, as he has had a few urinary tract infections. His foster will provide an initial supply of both foods.

If you'd like to meet Vance or think this cat would be a good match for your family, please complete our adoption questionnaire at http://www.trentoncats.org/adoption-questionnaire/ and let your references know someone will be contacting them soon. All our cats are neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed and flea-treated, tested for FIV/FeLV, and microchipped prior to adoption. Thanks for opting to adopt!

When you are ready to adopt a new forever friend, we ask you complete our friendly questionnaire http://www.trentoncats.org/adoption-questionnaire/ which is designed to ensure successful adoptions for cats and their family. One of our volunteers will have a brief conversation with you to determine your needs and preferences, find out about your daily schedule, and talk about your previous experience with pets. This will help us determine which cat best fits with your lifestyle. It helps speed up the adoption process if you: • Understand and are willing to abide by the pet policy where you live (if appropriate). • Give your veterinarian permission to speak to our volunteers. • Have two personal references standing by, ready to talk to our volunteers.
