Vampire Squid's Story
Vampire Squid is currently in foster care and ready for adoption via our virtual process!

Learn more about her time in foster care here: https://acrobat.adobe.com/id/urn:aaid:sc:VA6C2:1a8ed055-0044-473c-9d3a-b97d742fd1c5

Vampire Squid is a ten-month-old brown and white tabby female. She is a very sweet girl who is easy to get along with and will quickly win your heart with her gentle personality.

Her foster says "...she is looking for her soul-mate human and will be deeply, deeply bonded with them! She really relaxed after 3-4 weeks and has really looked forward to our routines of a "treat plate" first thing in the morning which I feed to her on the couch now to get her used to being up there. She explores the part of the apartment she knows well and I hope she will continue gaining confidence as her kittens grow! She loves head scratches and being brushed. She is playful with a toy mouse, but so far prefers to play on her own - especially if cat nip is involved. She has good eating and litter box habits. Vampire needs a bit of patience at the beginning, but I just know she is going to open up and really become committed to the person who saves her! She just needs about a week to adjust to a new environment, as she can be a bit shy in the beginning. Once she settles in, she becomes a genuinely affectionate companion. She loves a routine and instituting one will help her feel safe and loved in your home. She likes to follow you around in daily life and will even hop onto your nightstand to quietly watch over you while you sleep. After a long and tiring workday, she'll be waiting by the door for you to come home, ready to greet you. She has fully made this place her own. She feels comfortable, confident, and truly at home here. When she's on her own, she loves entertaining herself by chasing a ball around the apartment, happily turning it into a little game of her own. Vampire is also a very smart little cat. She has already figured out exactly which cabinet her food is kept in and whenever someone walks past it, she'll look up at you with the most adorable, hopeful expression "Could you maybe get me a little snack?"

Submit an adoption survey from above and our team will reach out via phone or email (check spam) to schedule a counseling call. For any additional questions, please contact fosternyc@bestfriends.org.

Please remember, pets cannot be held or reserved.
