Tutu's Story

Meet Tutu!

Cats: Yes, please!
Dogs: Unknown
Kids: Older, maybe

Don't let this handsome boy's stoic expression fool you - Tutu is an absolute love muffin who will happily slither through your hands in pursuit of pets, all while rumbling away with a deep purr and the occasional chirp to remind you that the attention should most certainly continue. How do you know you've fully made it into his inner circle? Tutu will happily shove his little body into you, and if you're a real one, he might even roll over for belly rubs.

Tutu came into our care when his person had to move somewhere that couldn't accommodate another pet. He had spent a significant amount of time on his own and the big, unfamiliar world of shelter life was pretty overwhelming at first. When he arrived, he was so frightened that he plastered himself to the back of his kennel, eyes wide and pupils practically taking up his entire face. Poor guy!

Fast-forward to today and this once-terrified boy has made some wonderful strides! While Tutu can still be a little shy around people, especially those he hasn't met before, he's absolutely blossomed since moving in with a couple of young feline buddies. Having some fellow cats around seems to have helped him come out of his shell and it's been a joy to see his sweet personality emerge.

Tutu will likely always appreciate a little extra patience and understanding when it comes to sudden movements, loud noises, and unfamiliar faces. A quieter home without young children would be ideal, where he can settle in at his own pace and feel safe enough to let his affectionate side shine. Although he didn't previously live with other cats, he's shown himself to be quite the social fellow and would likely thrive with a confident feline friend who can show him the ropes. Dogs are an unknown, but a calm, respectful pup could potentially be a match with slow, thoughtful introductions.

This handsome sweetheart has so much love to give once he feels safe enough to share it. Now, Tutu is looking for a home where he can leave his worries behind, enjoy all the companionship his little heart desires, and be thoroughly doted on like the precious love muffin he is. Could you be the one to help this sweet boy feel right at home?

Tutu has been:
Neutered
Microchipped
Vaccinated
Dewormed
Flea treated
SNAP tested (negative)

Tutu's adoption fee is $225 plus tax.

If you think Tutu could be the perfect addition to your family, the next step is to complete an adoption application using the link below.

Application: https://www.newwestcity.ca/.../NWAS_Cat_Adoption...

New Westminster Animal Shelter's Adoption Policy
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN AN ANIMAL, please submit an application form. This is the FIRST step in the adoption process. Please do NOT email us just to express interest. https://www.newwestcity.ca/services/animal-services/animal-shelter Our animals have unique personalities and needs. Our goal is to find the most suitable home for them and the most suitable pet for you. We make every effort to place animals in “forever” homes so they don’t find themselves back in a shelter. They’ve already lost their home once, and we don’t want them to go through that again. All applications are reviewed by two shelter staff members. We also conduct a phone interview, at which time we will address any questions or concerns you may have. Typically, we are able to inform applicants within 72 hours. If your application has been approved, we will then schedule a time for you to come pick up your new family member!
