Tuna!'s Story

Tuna is a lovely, calm, and patient cat. He enjoys being around people, and he is also one of the prettiest cats you will ever find—a “brown” tabby with prominent black stripes, polka dots on his paws that when you look more carefully you see that his gray is really black fur with frosted tips.

We rescued him from Midwood, Brooklyn after a local deli shut down and left him to find his own way. Because of this, he seems prefers company while he eats breakfast, and if you leave the room, he will come meowing after you until you return to help him finish the meal. Otherwise, he is normally a quiet cat doesn’t meow much, but he does however have a loud purr!

He has been known to be a lap cat if you initiate and really likes to be around people - during dinner parties he will be front and center or observe from his cat box in the dining room. He loves to play with wand toys especially, but he also loves to play with yarn and yarn toys...basically he will bat at anything that dangles!

He’s really a good boy. His calm demeanor and people-friendly vibe should make him a good member of just about any household with or without kids. Tuna is fully vaccinated (FVRCP & Rabies), Microchipped, FIV/FeLV negative and dewormed/deflea-ed.

Brooklyn Kitty Committee's Adoption Policy
Applicants are encouraged to complete an adoption application (linked on this page). Once reviewed, a member of our organization will schedule a virtual interview with ALL members of your household. Persons under 21 years are not eligible to adopt unless they are living in a family home and their guardian agrees to the adoption and co-signs their adoption agreement. If your application is approved, we will coordinate a meet & greet with the kitty/kitties of your choice (where appropriate). If you choose to move forward with one of these kitties and we agree that it is an appropriate fit, you will complete an adoption agreement and an adoption fee must be completed prior to finalizing adoption and providing all medical records to you. If you have another pet at home, a minimum 2 week foster-to-adopt period will be mandatory to ensure that the pets get along in your home. Adopters will complete a foster contract, which states that the cat/kitten is still under the guardianship of our organization until a formal adoption agreement has been completed.
