TUCKER's Story

Tucker was trapped at a small feral cat colony in a widower's front yard. We assumed Tucker was a sick feral kitten because he was so underweight but as it soon became apparant he has a mild case of a neurological condition known as Cerebellum Hypoplasia. He has a bit of a head tilt which makes him look like he's concentrating on a complex math problem and he had balance issues initially for which he has learned to compensate. It is now hard to recognize any problem since he will chase after another cat when playing and races up and down stairs with the best of them. He is thin and he often walks away from even his favorite canned food after a few bites. According to the vet it is not a problem and he is expected to have a perfectly normal life expectancy. He was hyper sensitive to touch and didn't like alot of petting at first but he has now been indoors with humans for a full year and he seeks out laps and enjoys being combed and petted from head to tail. There are feral kittens who never become as affectionate as Tucker and it is possible that the problems he had surviving outside in a feral colony are what made it easier for him to appreciate the comforts of dependable meals and a warm and comfy seat on the lap of a human. With his tilted head and twitching tail, Tucker is a unique find for a unique home.
