Trudy's Story

Trudy. The almost perfect cat!

I'm sure he can't be totally perfect so I added the 'almost'. But Trudy comes as close to my ideal cat as any I have ever met. He's an easy-going mellow guy (most of the time) who will be the best companion ever. His attributes:

He's a great walking partner. Want to amble through the woods, he's right there by your side, navigating the tree roots and water puddles with no problem at all.
Want to cruise around the yard to pick up brush or fiddle with flowers; he can hang out while you pause to do things. There are grass blades to sniff and possible rodents to survey.
Want to hike the backwoods trail and have a buddy to keep you company? He's right there with you, exploring as you go. He knows how to keep up and sometimes he may even race ahead and up a tree to keep you entertained. He has the heart of an adventurer.

He's an excellent couch buddy, when it's time to be on the couch. He can lay next to you or he could stretch his big muscular body out across your lap. You can carry him upside down like a baby and give him kisses. He loves it.

He would be best companion ever for another boy cat that could have cat adventures and cat playful antics together. He wants a cat buddy so bad. He gets along with every cat in his foster home, even the snitty little girls who stick their noses in the air. No problem. He can ignore them. But he tries and tries to befriend the boy cat with little races beside him as we walk down the trail. Cute antics to catch attention. But no, his foster brother is older and past those kittenish shenanigans.

And oddly enough, this boy is amazingly tolerant of little kids who just want to touch him and hug him. We don't expect him to put up with bad treatment. But gentle lovies from the toddler crowd, yeah ok. He can deal. I've seen a toddler pick him up, hug him under the front legs and drag his back feet on the ground as she walked around. He was, yeah, whatever.

His very minor imperfections--

He begs for food. He's hungry a lot and he will hang out in the kitchen and tell you he's hungry, stand up on his hind legs at the counter and beg. He will at times also jump onto the counter and check out the options himself. If you tell him to get down, he usually will. When he is in food begging mode, he can be a trip hazard. He haunts your steps until you get his belly full.

Trudy is not huge, but he is a big boy so he does need plenty of good food. He's so perfectly proportioned it's a little hard to tell he's big till you stand him next to another cat who you thought was big. He's muscular. Solid. Big paws. Excellent hunter. He may be a year or even a couple years old but these paws seem to promise that he may still grow a bit more.

I've never seen him do a mean thing to a person or another cat. I have seen him show fear around a dog. We don't know if he has not been around dogs before. He did live where he may have experienced the visits of coyotes that require caution and fear. Or maybe he had a bad experience with a dog.

Trudy is a true Alaskan boy and we want him to be happy. So this is what we think he needs to be happy and we will be looking for a family that can provide -- a natural area in a rural place where it is relatively safe for him to run around the yard and hunt and check things out; a cat friend, who would most likely need to be a boy, that wants a buddy to do outside things with and hang out in the house together as best friends; a human family that will take him on walks where it's quiet and peaceful, maybe a homestead where he can help with the outside chores; and people who will give him lots of hugs and even carry him around like a baby at times, fulfill his need to be loved with all their hearts and make him a real part of the family. Forever.

This boy is wonderful in every way. I can't say that enough.

And his name?--morphed from 'Intruder' when he showed up at the house looking for a new home. Maybe it's a girl's name. But no problem. He can handle it. And for those who have problems with it, he is also called Ranger,

He's in Kenai area. Call or text 907 953-0333
