This listing is Trix' last chance at a life off the streets. <br/><br/>Trix has been living on the streets for a couple of years. Having litter after litter of kittens after her owners moved away and left her behind to fend for herself. She got lucky when some neighbors started at least leaving food for her, and then finally they reached out to us to get her spayed. To our surprise, she gave birth in the trap on the very morning she was scheduled for her spay surgery. <br/><br/>Trix is a very good momma. Even though she was terrified, she protected her babies, growling at anyone who came near them. She cared for them and nurtured them despite her own fears. When we finally got her and her kittens into a foster home, she was able to relax and show us her true personality. <br/><br/>Trix is a sweet girl who loves to be petted. She has a medium length coat of the softest fur, and she enjoys being brushed until it shines. She purrs and chirps and headbutts you to show her appreciation. <br/><br/>But we all know how this plays out. She will get to stay with her babies until they are weaned. The babies will be put up for adoption. And then it's back to a life on the streets for her. Why? Because adult momma cats rarely get adopted. In this economy, we will be lucky to find homes for her babies. Because they are cute and small, people will fall in love with them and the applications will eventually come. But no one looks twice at an adult tabby. They scroll right on by. <br/><br/>Trix has about 3 weeks left with us before she weans her kittens and gets spayed. If we don't have an approved adoption application for her, she will have to return to the streets. It's not the worst thing. At least she will be spayed and vaccinated and she has people willing to feed her. But if we could actually find her a home with a loving family, that would be the best thing ever. <br/><br/>We don't know if she has been around dogs, cats, or kids. She could probably be introduced to any of them as long as everyone is calm and introductions go slowly. <br/><br/>Trix has been vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. She will be spayed and triple tested prior to adoption.
