Fortunately, surgery was not necessary. Instead, she had a balloon dilation to open her esophagus, and Toya is now eating solid food! VRA has cautioned that she may need another dilation in the future if the narrowing returns. While Toya may benefit from being fed in an elevated position, she is otherwise expected to grow into a normal, happy, healthy cat. And Toya certainly has no idea that she is anything but perfectly normal!

First, just look at her! Toya has the most incredible coat markings. She's not your ordinary striped tabby — her beautiful brown-and-black coat has a gorgeous marbled, swirling pattern that makes her look like someone painted every swirl by hand. She's one very distinctive little girl!

Because Toya spent so much of her early life in isolation, she became remarkably good at entertaining herself. Give her a toy, a room to explore, and a little time, and she can amuse herself for hours. But she loves company, too!

Toya loves other kittens and adores her people. She's happiest right in the middle of whatever you're doing — whether that's sleeping in your lap, sitting on your phone or laptop, or following you around the house.

She loves to race around, investigate every interesting sound and sight, and conduct very serious "hunts" for imaginary prey. And just like any perfectly normal kitten, she gets the zoomies — especially morning and night — ping-ponging and zig-zagging everywhere with absolutely no regard for traffic laws!

When the kitten craziness is over, she's happy to curl up with her person and fall asleep. She's playful, curious, affectionate, entertaining and just a little bit silly, with a generous loud purr.

Toya is up-to-date on her vaccines, dewormed, microchipped, and litter-box trained.

We are looking for a special foster-to-adopt home where someone can begin loving Toya right away, watch her grow, and build a wonderful bond with this very special little girl. She'll need someone who understands that she may need a little extra consideration at mealtimes, but who also wants all the fun and affection that comes with raising a kitten.

Kids 12+ with previous kitten/cat experience would be a wonderful match for Toya.

Toya has already overcome so much. Now she deserves what every kitten should have — a loving home, a family of her own, and a lifetime of being spoiled rotten.

Could Toya be your very special little girl?

NOTE: Please do not ask us to HOLD a cat/kitten for you. Our space is very limited as we don't have a facility.

Laurel Cats does not have a shelter or storefront. Our kittens and cats are placed in the homes of loving volunteer fosters until they are adopted. This means our cats are accustomed to being handled and loved. Please ask questions if you're interested in any of our cats
