Topaz's Story

This handsome, 2-year-old, 10.9-pound Domestic Medium Hair cat has a sweet and shy personality. He is a quiet boy who absolutely loves affection. Just give him a couple of gentle scratches behind the ears or on his back, and he’ll start to open up.

Topaz came to us from a large outdoor cat community. While he had lots of feline friends there, he was unfortunately exposed to the Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV). Being FeLV positive means his immune system cannot fight off illness and infection, and his life span may be a little shorter than an average cat's.

Topaz can still live a happy and healthy life as long as he is kept indoors and visits the vet for his annual checkups. He should live in a home as the only cat, or with other FeLV-positive cats, to protect him from diseases and to prevent the Feline Leukemia Virus from spreading. The good news is FeLV cannot be spread to humans or dogs, so he can have as many human and canine friends as he likes! Topaz is ready to be your loving companion for as long as he's able.

Topaz is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his vaccines. You can visit him at the shelter Tuesdays through Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM or Sundays from 12:00 to 5:00 PM.
