Tootsie's Story

Hi, I’m Tootsie! I arrived at the shelter along with my siblings after we were found as strays. We are friendly, playful kittens who are just looking for a family to call our own. We are super affectionate and love hanging out with people—whether we’re playing with toys, cuddling up for a nap, or just chilling together. Playtime is the best part of our day, and we're always ready for a game of chase or a round of pounce!

Now, there’s something important you should know about us: We are FIV positive. FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) is a virus that affects cats’ immune systems, but don’t worry—it doesn’t stop us from being happy, healthy kitties. We can still have a long, normal life with the right care. FIV is most commonly transmitted through bite wounds, so we're perfectly safe to live with other cats as long as they don’t get into any rough play. It’s not spread through casual contact like grooming or sharing food and water, so we are just like any other kitty in that way!

We may need a little extra attention when it comes to our health, but nothing too major. Regular vet check-ups, a good diet, and lots of love are all we need to stay happy and healthy. We promise, with us, you’ll get a loyal, affectionate companion who loves life and will bring so much joy into your home.

So, if you’re ready to meet a playful, sweet kitty who will steal your heart (and maybe your lap), come say hello to us! We don't have to be adopted together, but it would be really neat if we were! We can't wait to be part of your family! If you would like to come meet us please call 518-842-8050 to make an appointment. Thank you and we hope to see you soon!

Montgomery County SPCA's Adoption Policy
At the Montgomery County SPCA, we are dedicated to finding responsible, forever homes for all the pets in our care. To that end, we have created a thorough adoption process which helps us achieve this goal. This process includes a check of veterinary history records on any pets you currently have, and a home visit. If you rent your home, we require written proof (letter or lease) from your landlord that you are allowed to have pets. We undertake this kind of thorough review to ensure that animals who have already been discarded at least once will never have to experience this again.
