Tonka's Story

Please email adopt@newleashrescue.org to request a cat application.

Tonka came to rescue as an unclaimed stray. He is estimated to be 3.5 years old. He is a very large stature cat, weighing about 15 pounds. He has a grade 2-3 heart murmur and will need a family who is willing to do the necessary medical check ups and follow up.

Tonka is independent and doesn't like being restrained or made to do anything he doesn't want to do and is not recommended for a home with kids under age 9.

Tonka does good with other cats with appropriate introductions, but does not directly live with dogs. It is unknown if he has prior experience with dogs.

Tonka is neutered, FIV/feLV negative updated on fdrc and rabies vaccinations, fecal tested, dewormed, and microchipped.

As part of our adoption process, vet references are checked on past and current pets and must be kept up to date on core vaccinations and annual exams. Resident cats must also have a negative FeLV test on file.

Adoption fee is $230+ tax (no checks)

Email adopt@newleashrescue.org for more information.

Our fosters do the best they can to provide all information about the animal's background and temperament while in foster care in their home. An adopters routine and home environment is likely different than that in their foster home.

Sometimes there is more that comes out about an animals personality once they have been able to settle in a home and truly become comfortable. There are great articles out there written about the different stages a pet goes through after adoption, discussing transitions that happen at 3 days, 3 weeks, and 3 months. We highly recommend reading about this - it will help you understand the transition your new pet goes through.
