Meet Tommy

Tommy was surrendered to our rescue with his housemate Anna over Easter weekend 2017. One of their owners passed away in April 2016, and the wife was hospitalized and moved into a nursing home facility. Both cats were scheduled to be euthanized unless an animal shelter or rescue group agreed to take the pair, as the couple had no adult children or friends to take in their two cats. However, Anna and Tommy do not need to be adopted together. Tommy is a friendly, large, neutered male orange tabby with white chin, chest, belly and paws. Tommy came into our rescue extremely overweight, and has lost a few pounds, although his favorite activities are to sit in the sun or look out the window. Tommy is very food focussed and will try to get into the containers of dry cat food or look for something in the trash so covered garbage cans are a must to prevent him from eating inappropriate items. Despite his large physical size, Tommy is not a dominant or aggressive cat and can live in a home with other cats. Tommy has had some brief encounters with a lab mix dog, and grew more comfortable around the dog as long as the dog left him alone. Tommy will chase the red laser dot and bat around toys for brief periods of time. Tommy is feline leukemia virus and feline immunodeficiency virus negative, and microchipped.
