Tommy... Black & White Domestic Shorthair neutered male; approx. 9-1/2 years old as of May 2024. He is up to date on shots, tested FeLV / FIV negative, and neutered.

Tommy came from Parkersburg, Iowa and was very scared when he arrived. When neutered, they did ear-tip him because in-case he ended up being a kitty that would live on a farm. But with time and TLC, he came around and showed he is a really nice boy. He is a gorgeous with really unique markings. He's still a little skittish and will need someone who will love him and give him time to adjust to all the sights, sounds and smells of his new home before allowing him to roam free. So you would want to set him up in a room alone because he will hide at first. He will need time to get to know you and bond with you. Once that happens, he can be let out to the rest of the house.

3/1/17 UPDATE: Tommy moved to a new foster home about 6 weeks ago. It took him about 3 weeks to settle in. His first sign that he decided I was ok is that he head butted my hand when I was feeding him. Now he loves to be petted adn seeks me out for attention. His favorite spot is near his back end and he will raise it up to show how much he loves it. He also is not a total fan of being held, but allows it more and more as he gets to know me. He still can be skittish at times with new experiences, but he relaxes after a little while. Took him to the vet yesterday for shot updates, he was super scared in the pet taxi so I just kept talking to him in a calm reassuring voice. He did amazing at the vet for shots and for the whole exam. Tommy will win your heart once you get to know him. And you will win his once he gets to know you. Older children in the home would be best since he can be so shy still. He does great with my kind cat loving daughters, ages 10 and 12.

12/2/17 UPDATE: Tommy is a great cat. Does well with other cats after proper introductions. He needs a home that can set him up in one room and go slow with letting him settle in. So worth it once you get to know him!

Tommy's adoption fee is $95.00 adoption fee.

WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to waverlypetrescue@mchsi.com

All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $200 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
