TomTom's Story

TomTom is a former Bronx street cat who is looking for a cozy home with a cat lover who's ready to spoil him rotten.

Tommy has many nicknames - Tommy Pickles, TomTom, T-Money, T-Port, or T-Pain, depending on which member of his veterinary and volunteer fan club you ask. He's a handsome Bronx native with a big personality, a soft spot for his people, and absolutely no interest in going back to life on the streets. Tommy is ready to claim his spot in the sun on your comfy couch.

This past winter, Tommy was found emaciated and suffering from frostbite in a Bronx cemetery. He was brought to a local veterinary clinic, where the staff stepped in to get him healthy, safe, and back on his paws. Since then, he's been surrounded by people who adore him. Now, we're just waiting for his number one fan to find him. We hope they don't keep him waiting too much longer.

Tommy is a people cat through and through. He'll follow you from room to room, keep you company while you work, and happily accept pets and gentle scritches when the vibes are right. He's an experienced office cat who knows that sometimes the best place to spend an afternoon is sprawled across a desk or lounging in a hallway, supervising the humans as they go about their business.

He's also a guy who knows what he likes. If he's had enough attention, he'll let you know with a little hiss or a gentle, claw-free bop before going about his day. No hard feelings though, he simply appreciates a person who respects his personal space!

Tommy LOVES to eat. He has no teeth, so wet food is the way to his heart (and his stomach). He's a true New Yorker and enjoys the occasional sneaky bite of a bacon, egg, and cheese if you're feeling generous.

He's spent time in foster homes and veterinary clinics, and wherever he lands, he has a remarkable talent for finding the coziest spot in the room. What Tommy wants now is a permanent place to settle in, a predictable routine, a full belly, and a person to call his own.

Tommy is the best of both worlds: social and affectionate without needing constant attention. He'll happily hang out with you, but he's also perfectly content doing his own thing.

He'd thrive with an adopter who understands cat body language and appreciates a cat with boundaries. A home without small children is best, since Tommy needs people who can recognize when he's asking for space.

He's likely happiest as your one and only feline companion, although he may be able to live with a calm, non-confrontational cat after a slow, thoughtful introduction. Bold cats and dogs aren't his cup of tea. After years of as a big and bad tomcat, Tom Tom has earned his peace, and he would love to share that peace with you

If you've got room in your home for a toothless king with a big personality, Tommy is your guy.

Give this handsome former street tomcat the happily-ever-after he's been waiting for.

Tommy is FIV-positive, which means he can live a long, happy life with appropriate veterinary care. FIV is not transmissible to humans and is primarily spread between cats through deep bite wounds. FIV-positive cats can live with FIV-negative cats, depending on their temperaments and living arrangements. Our team are happy to chat with you to see if Tommy could be a fit for your home.

After years on the streets, Tommy has some ongoing pain that's managed with a monthly Solensia injection and gabapentin as needed. His future family will need to keep up with his veterinary care, watch for signs of discomfort, and work with their vet to keep him comfortable. Tommy's team is happy to talk with potential adopters about his medical history, current treatment, and ongoing needs.

He's neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations and wellness bloodwork. dewormed, and FeLV negative.

Please apply using the following instructions if you are interested in adopting one of our Waggytails: Visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal.
