Tofu's Story
Meet Tofu

Some cats demand your attention.

Tofu quietly waits for your heart.

He isn't the first cat visitors notice. He's the one who wanders over a few minutes later, gently leans into your hand, melts into your pets, and before you know it, you're completely in love.

Everyone who meets Tofu falls for him.

They just never seem to choose him.

Tofu turns 9 this November. After his owner passed away, he lost everything he'd ever known. Through it all, he has remained one of the sweetest, gentlest cats we've ever had the privilege of caring for.

He adores every person he meets. He's incredibly affectionate, wonderfully soft, loves the occasional play session, and is happiest curled up beside you for a long afternoon nap. If you're looking for a quiet best friend, Tofu is your guy.

Tofu does have eosinophilic granuloma complex (EGC), but it's very well managed. He has the occasional flare-up, which often resolves on its own. If needed, a short course of prednisolone gets him feeling like himself again. We'll send medication home with his adopter and happily share everything we've learned.

We believe stress is his biggest trigger. Tofu is so laid back that he often ends up being the one bullied by more confident cats. We'd love to see him in a quieter home where he can finally relax and simply be someone's spoiled companion.

When Tofu first arrived at our busy multi-cat sanctuary, he occasionally urine marked while adjusting. As he's settled in, this has become rare. Because moving to a new home is another big change, we'd like his adopter to know he may need a little adjustment period there as well. We believe this has been stress-related rather than a lifelong behavioural issue.

Tofu deserves someone willing to see past a few notes in his medical file and see the incredible cat underneath.

Because we believe in him so much, we'd even be happy to discuss a trial adoption for the right home. We know finding the perfect match works both ways, and we want Tofu—and his future family—to feel confident that they've found each other.

If you've been looking for a gentle soul to share your couch, your quiet evenings, and your heart...

We think Tofu has been waiting for you.

Tofu currently lives in a sanctuary setting with 10 other cats. He does really well with the cats who are passive/lower energy but the cats that are dominant stress him out. He could tolerate a friendly cat(s) in his new home if the personality is right.
