Toby's Story

Meet Toby – Your Gentle, Snuggly Shadow ?

Toby is an absolute sweetheart with a heart full of love and a quiet curiosity about the world. This charming boy is happiest when he's near his person, content to follow you from room to room like a fluffy little supervisor. Whether he’s trotting ahead of you down the hallway or settling in to watch a thrilling bird documentary on TV, Toby finds joy in simply being by your side. He will happily pin you down for long-term snuggles and appreciates a belly rub more than any other cat I've met.

An expert-level snuggler, Toby offers a comforting, weighted-blanket experience as he tucks you in for the night. True to his gentlemanly nature, he’ll then shift to his own cozy spot on the bed to ensure a peaceful night for you both. In the morning, you’ll be gently awakened by his soft, happy chirps—and if you’re lucky, a sweet kiss on the nose to start your day.

Toby’s journey hasn’t always been easy. It’s likely he was scolded in the past for being in places he wasn’t “supposed” to be—like counters or cozy doorways—so he can be sensitive when told “no.” He listens well, but he needs reassurance that he’s safe and loved. A calm, gentle voice goes a long way in helping him feel secure and build trust.

Since coming into foster care, Toby has made amazing progress learning to trust feet moving near him. Sudden movements on the ground can still startle him, and he may offer a harmless paw bop if surprised. Giving him a heads-up before walking nearby (or making sure he sees you coming) helps everyone stay relaxed and happy.

Toby would flourish in a calm, low-traffic home where peace and quiet are the norm. While he’s open to the idea of coexisting with another laid-back feline or perhaps even a gentle, easygoing dog, he’s not one for chaos or constant commotion. He may politely tolerate visiting children—like a patient, slightly grumpy uncle—but he'd much rather rule a serene, predictable kingdom where he can fully relax. His ideal companions are calm, kind-hearted humans who enjoy lounging, quiet snuggles, and letting a cat be a cat. While flashy toys don’t impress him, give Toby a good catnip kicker and he’ll happily bunny-kick it before curling up for a sun-soaked snooze.

If you’re looking for a loving, low-key companion who will be your snuggle buddy, gentle shadow, and biggest fan, Toby might just be your perfect match.

Toby has early onset kidney disease. It is being treated with special food. No medications are needed.

Tobes has been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and has received preventative flea and worm treatments.

If you're interested in or have any questions about them, please send a message to TheCatAdvocates@gmail.com. We recieve many applications for our cats and kittens and cannot always reply to everyone. Only chosen applicants will be contacted. Please be patient; response times may vary as we are all volunteers.

CATS has a Foster to Adopt program.
