Tinsel and Mistletoe's Story

Please read through the entire posting and requirements before applying via our questionnaire at https://alleycatproject.org/adopt
Please do not submit an inquiry via Petfinder.

Meet Tinsel and Mistletoe, a bonded pair of kitten brothers! They are approximately 7 months old.

Both brothers are beautiful medium/long haired tuxedo cats. Tinsel has a cute spot on his lip that makes him look like he's got buck teeth, while Mistletoe has a little stripe on his nose! Both brothers require time and space to decompress and learn about the safe spaces inside and will do best starting in a smaller space.

They do best when they are allowed to come to you, and are still a bit skittish when approached while standing and when reaching to pet. They will eventually get comfortable enough to come sit and be near you on the couch.

They are both food motivated and during mealtimes will often meow and circle your legs to be fed. In a two adult household they have a preferred adult and are learning how to be comfortable with more than one person in their space at a time.

Tinsel is the larger of the brothers and loves any sort of food!

Health note: Tinsel has a heart murmur. It was discovered during his neuter procedure; he had moderate respiratory distress while under anesthesia. A follow up examination without anesthesia did not detect a murmur or any other abnormalities in his chest. Before any future procedures with anesthesia, it is recommended Tinsel get an echocardiogram for safety. and

Due to the heart murmur, Tinsel will often get over exerted when playing. It is advised that play happens in short bursts and he is given adequate time to recover between play sessions.

He might love to play in shorts bursts but you will also always find him loafing around when not playing. He is the more outgoing of the brothers and does like to follow you around when he becomes comfortable. If comfortable he will come jump and lay on your lap.

***To be considered, please make sure to acknowledge Tinsel's potential medical needs in your application.***

Mistletoe is the smaller of the brothers and loves his space. He is a bit more gentle in demeanor and does best when given more time and space to come out of his shell. He can be wary of new situations and people and does prefer when you are static and allow him to come to you. He likes pets and love in small bursts and is working on his sensitivity to loud noises. He is the slower eater of the two so separating him from his brother gives him time and space to eat.

Together, they make a loving duo who love their space.

What Tinsel and Mistletoe are looking for in a home:

- They want to stay together forever and must be adopted as a pair.
- They’re new to indoor life with humans, so they need a kind and patient guide to help them continue adjusting. Loud noises, fast movements, and strangers can make them nervous.
- They can get nervous, so they need a kind and patient guide to help them feel comfortable with new experiences.
- They’ll need extra time and TLC to build trust.
- They feel at ease in a quiet and calm environment.
- They need to live indoors only.
- They have no known history with other cats.
- They have no known history with dogs.
- They have no known history with children.

All Alley Cat Project’s cats are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated prior to adoption.

Alley Cat Project adoption fees are:

- $200 per cat or kitten
- $350 for pair of cats or kittens
- $50 for senior cat (over 8 years old)
- Flexible reduced fees for a cat with a chronic medical condition that requires ongoing care
- Additional charitable donations are appreciated and support our overall rescue efforts

Thank you for your interest in Mistletoe and Tinsel!
